A genuine replacement drive shaft used inside selected Volvo Penta D9 and D11 seawater pump assemblies. The shaft transfers mechanical drive from the engine-side pump drive to the impeller and provides the running surfaces required by the pump bearings and shaft seals.

• Scoring or corrosion on the shaft
• Excessive radial play or shaft wobble
• Water leakage from the shaft-seal area
• Bearing noise or rough pump rotation
• Reduced seawater flow caused by drive or impeller slip

🛠️ Service Notes

• Handle and store the shaft so the bearing journals and seal running surfaces stay unmarked — a nick on a seal track will cause a leak that no new seal will cure
• Remove the protective coating and check the shaft for straightness, scoring, pitting and stepped wear at the journals, splines and seal areas before fitting
• Lubricate journals, splines and seal surfaces with clean oil of the grade specified for the assembly as it goes together, and renew the seals and any single-use nuts or locking devices disturbed on removal
• Draw bearings and couplings on square with a press or drawing tool that loads only the correct race — hammering a bearing onto a shaft marks the races and can distort the shaft
• Set end float, backlash and shim thickness to the values in the workshop manual for your unit, then turn the assembly by hand to confirm it is free before applying power
