🔌 Function

The bracket supports the designated inlet, exhaust or heat-insulation component near the turbocharger assembly. Correct support prevents movement that could fatigue shields, pipes, clamps or adjoining fasteners.

• Cracks around the mounting holes
• Rattling from the turbocharger heat-shield area
• Loose or vibrating insulation components
• Fretting around the fasteners

🛠️ Service Notes

• Offer the bracket up and start every fastener by hand before tightening any of them, so the component is not pulled into a strained position
• Check the mating faces are clean, flat and free of corrosion scale — a bracket that does not sit flat will work loose and let the component move
• Renew self-locking nuts, lock washers, tab washers or thread-locking compound wherever the original assembly used them, and tighten to the figure given in the workshop manual for your engine
• Where the bracket carries a rubber mount or bush, renew that at the same time rather than reusing a perished one
• On brackets in the inlet and exhaust area, never force alignment to make the holes line up — cure the misalignment at its source, or the bracket and the component it holds will both crack
