🔧 Product Description

Temperature sensor used within the Selective Catalytic Reduction and diesel-exhaust-fluid dosing system on specified Volvo Penta TAD1360-TAD1362VE industrial engines. It monitors temperature within the SCR pump or dosing circuit so the control system can manage fluid heating, pressure control and urea dosing under changing operating and ambient conditions.

🚤 Compatibility

Typically suits:

  • Volvo Penta TAD560VE
  • Volvo Penta TAD561VE
  • Volvo Penta TAD1660-62VE
  • Volvo Penta TAD1662VE EU5
  • Volvo Penta TWD1663GE
  • Volvo Penta TAD765VE
  • Volvo Penta TAD764VE
  • Volvo Penta TAD763VE
  • Volvo Penta TAD762VE
  • Volvo Penta TAD761VE
  • Engine Family: TAD, TWD

⚙️ Key Features

  • Genuine Volvo Penta SCR / DEF system temperature sensor
  • Used in the pump and dosing circuit rather than the engine coolant circuit
  • Provides temperature feedback for aftertreatment control and protection
  • Correct electrical characteristics for the specified TAD13VE control system
  • Suitable for diagnosing temperature-signal faults, dosing inhibition or derate conditions
  • Engine type: Volvo Penta TAD13VE inline six-cylinder industrial diesel with SCR aftertreatment

🔌 Function

Measures the temperature of the SCR pump or diesel-exhaust-fluid circuit and sends the value to the aftertreatment controller. The signal is used to prevent freezing, control heating and ensure dosing occurs only within the correct operating conditions.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • SCR or diesel-exhaust-fluid temperature fault codes
  • Implausible, fixed or erratic temperature readings
  • Dosing inhibited despite adequate fluid and system pressure
  • Engine warning, emissions warning or power derate
  • Open-circuit, short-circuit or connector-related diagnostic faults

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Check the replacement is the sensor specified for your engine and instrumentation — sensors sharing a thread can have quite different characteristics, and a mismatch gives plausible but wrong readings
  • Let the engine cool and depressurise the system before removing a sensor from a coolant or oil passage, and be ready for the fluid that will come out
  • Clean the threads and sealing face in the housing, fit a new sealing washer or O-ring where one is used, and do not pack the threads with sealant on a sensor that earths through its body
  • Tighten to the figure in the workshop manual with a spanner on the hexagon only — these bodies crack easily and the thread in an alloy housing is easily stripped
  • Reconnect the plug or terminal clean and secure, route the lead clear of hot and moving parts, then top up, bleed and run the engine and check the reading is sensible and steady while watching the joint for weeps
