Genuine front timing-gear casing used on earlier Volvo Penta TAD650VE industrial diesel engines. It encloses and aligns the timing gears and provides the mounting and sealing surfaces for the front covers, crankshaft seal and related gear housings. Later TAD650VE production uses casing 22444773 from the documented serial change.

The casing aligns and encloses the timing gears, retains lubricating oil and supports the front engine covers and crankshaft seal.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Oil leakage from the casing joint
- Cracked casting
- Damaged crankshaft-seal bore
- Warped cover or gasket surfaces
- Timing-gear misalignment or noise
- Damaged mounting threads
🛠️ Service Notes
- Clean both joint faces back to bare metal without scoring them, and remove all old gasket, sealant and debris from the block face, the sump joint and the bolt holes
- Use the gasket and the sealant type the manual specifies, applying sealant sparingly at the corners and joint lines — excess squeezes inside and can block an oil way
- Where the casing carries the front crankshaft seal, check the seal bore for wear and fit the seal to the specified depth, at the stage in the sequence the manual directs
- Centre the casing on the crankshaft before pulling it down, using the alignment tool or method the manual gives, or the front seal will run off-centre and leak
- Fit all fasteners loosely first, then tighten in the sequence and to the figures in the manual for your engine, and refit the pulley, damper and drive belt as specified
