🛠️ Service Notes

  • Fit the tube so it reaches both connections without being sprung into place — a tube pulled into line loads its ends and cracks, usually at a bend or a joint
  • Renew the sealing washers, O-rings or gaskets at every connection rather than reusing them, and start each union by hand so you can feel that the thread and seating face are properly engaged before tightening
  • Keep the bore clean: cap or plug both ends until the moment of fitting, and never blow debris through a tube into the component it feeds
  • Support the tube in its original clips and brackets — an unsupported run will fatigue from engine vibration even though it sealed perfectly when new
  • Do not straighten, re-bend or patch a damaged tube; its shape is what gives the correct stress-free fit, and tighten unions only to the figure in the workshop manual for your engine
