🔧 Product Description

Genuine moulded seal fitted between cover plate 21403627 and the anode opening in catalyst-equipped Volvo Penta V6 and V8 petrol-engine exhaust manifolds. The seal prevents cooling water escaping around sacrificial anode 21403633.

🔌 Function

The seal closes the joint around the manifold anode and prevents raw-water leakage from the exhaust-manifold water jacket.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Water seepage around the cover plate
• Seal flattened, split or heat-hardened
• Corrosion around the anode opening
• Leak recurring after anode replacement

🛠️ Service Notes

• Clean the housing bore and the shaft, and check the shaft for a wear groove where the old seal ran — a new seal on a grooved shaft will leak again
• Fit the seal with the lip and its garter spring facing the fluid being retained, normally inward towards the oil, and to the depth specified for that housing
• Press the seal in square using a driver or plate that bears on the seal's outer face and never on the lip; a cocked or dished seal will leak from new
• Lightly oil or grease the lip and the shaft before assembly unless the manual specifically calls for a dry fit, and protect the lip with tape or oiled paper when passing it over splines, keyways or threads
• Check the garter spring is still seated in its groove after fitting, then turn the assembly by hand before running it up
