Long extension lead for the water-in-fuel sensor on remotely mounted Volvo Penta fuel-filter installations. It provides additional reach beyond the standard extension lead while retaining the correct sealed connectors and circuit pinout.

🔌 Function

Carries the water-in-fuel sensor signal from a remotely mounted separator to the engine electrical harness.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Intermittent water-in-fuel warning
  • Open-circuit or short-circuit diagnostic code
  • Connector corrosion or damaged locking tabs
  • Cable chafing over the longer route
  • Signal changes when the harness is moved

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Never cut, shorten, splice or otherwise modify a Volvo Penta cable harness — an extension cable is fitted between existing connectors, and a lengthened or repaired cable is not an accepted repair
  • Keep the total run length and the number of extensions within the limits given in the installation manual for your system; adding length or branches to a data bus produces intermittent faults rather than an honest failure
  • Mate connectors clean and dry, push them fully home until the lock clicks, keep protective caps on unused connectors, and do not grease or pack a sealed connector unless the manual specifies it
  • Route the cable clear of exhaust and turbocharger heat, away from sharp edges and moving parts, and clip it so it cannot chafe or hang on its plugs; leave a drip loop so water runs away from the connectors
  • Coil surplus length loosely and secure it somewhere dry rather than pulling the cable taut to take up slack
