Belleville-type disc spring used inside the bearing-housing and clutch/piston assembly of Volvo Penta IPS drives. The spring applies the designed axial preload to the associated bearing, piston or disc pack and maintains controlled engagement as the assembly moves and wears.

• Measure the free height of the old springs before reusing any — a disc spring that has settled under load still looks sound but no longer gives the intended preload
