🛠️ Service Notes

• Fit the plate the way round the manual shows, so it does its job of keeping oil settled around the pickup as the boat moves
• Check it sits clear of the oil pickup, the level sensor and anything that moves, and that the sump can still drain fully
• Clean sludge and debris off the plate and out of the sump while it is out, and note what has collected there before refitting
• Renew the locking hardware on the fixings and tighten to the figure in the workshop manual for your engine — a fastener dropped into a running sump does serious damage
• Renew the sump gasket or sealing compound whenever the pan has to come off to reach the plate
