🔌 Function
Carries coolant between the engine and the heat exchanger side of the closed-cooling circuit, holding the run in a fixed moulded shape so it clears the surrounding castings and stays clear of hot and moving parts.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Sweet coolant smell in the engine space after a run
- Temperature climbing or the alarm sounding as the level falls
- Ballooning or a soft spot in the hose wall under pressure
- Splits or chafe where the hose touches a casting or clip
- Perished, crumbling rubber at the spigot once the clamp is slackened
🛠️ Service Notes
- Renew the clamps with the hose and check the spigots for pitting or scale first - a corroded spigot will not seal against a new hose.
- Refill and bleed the coolant circuit after fitting, then re-check the level once the engine has been run up to temperature and allowed to cool.
