🔌 Function

Carries raw seawater through the engine's cooling circuit, keeping the run in a fixed moulded shape between its spigots so the bore is not kinked and flow to the pump, heat exchanger or discharge is maintained.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Seawater dripping or salt crust forming at a clamped joint
• Overheating or the alarm sounding at higher revs as flow drops
• Hose collapsing or drawing flat on the suction side when the engine is revved
• Weeping, sand-scoured or corroded spigots found under the clamps
• Inner liner delaminated and lifting, restricting the bore

🛠️ Service Notes

• Renew the clamps with the hose and check the spigots for pitting or scale first - a corroded spigot will not seal against a new hose.
• Check the seawater pump impeller and the rest of the raw-water run at the same time - debris shed by a failing hose ends up in the pump or the heat exchanger.
• This is a moulded hose bent to shape to clear the surrounding castings; a straight length cut to size will kink or chafe, so match the moulding rather than substituting hose by the metre.
