🔌 Function
Carries coolant between the engine and the heat exchanger side of the closed-cooling circuit, holding the run in a fixed moulded shape so it clears the surrounding castings and stays clear of hot and moving parts.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Coolant weeping or a dried crusty stain at a clamped joint
- Expansion tank level dropping with no obvious puddle in the bilge
- Hose gone soft and spongy, or hard and glazed, when squeezed cold
- Fine cracks in the outer cover where the hose bends
- Inner liner found swollen or broken down, shedding rubber into the system
🛠️ Service Notes
- Renew the clamps with the hose and check the spigots for pitting or scale first - a corroded spigot will not seal against a new hose.
- Refill and bleed the coolant circuit after fitting, then re-check the level once the engine has been run up to temperature and allowed to cool.
