🛠️ Service Notes

  • Check the bracket for cracks, particularly around the bolt holes and any bearing boss, and make sure the mounting face and its threads are clean and sound before fitting
  • Renew the bearing, pulley, bushes or tensioner that run in or on the bracket if they are worn, rough or have any play; refitting worn parts onto a new bracket wastes the job
  • Fit any specified spacers or shims and tighten the fixings to the figures in the workshop manual for your engine
  • Check pulley alignment across the whole belt run once the bracket is on, then set belt tension by the procedure for your engine — a misaligned bracket throws belts and destroys bearings
  • Recheck the fixings and the belt tension after the first period of running
