A genuine valve guide used for intake and exhaust valves on selected Volvo Penta D16 and TAD16 diesel engines. The guide controls valve-stem movement, maintains valve-to-seat alignment and transfers heat from the valve stem into the cylinder head.

🛠️ Service Notes

• Guides are an interference fit: bring the head to the temperature the workshop manual specifies and press the new guide in with a stepped drift, lightly oiled, rather than driving it in cold
• Fit to the depth or protrusion the manual gives for your engine, and support the head properly so the boss is not cracked
• Ream or size the guide after fitting — pressing distorts the bore, and stem-to-guide clearance must be brought back to the manual's figure
• Check the result by oiling the stem and letting the valve fall through the guide under gravity: it should descend smoothly and evenly, with no tight spot anywhere in its travel
• Recut or lap the seats after guides are changed, since the guide sets the valve's axis, and renew the valve stem seals at the same time
