🔌 Function

Connects the helm control to the engine throttle, the reversing gear or the sterndrive shift mechanism, transmitting lever movement along a push-pull inner wire so the engine follows the control head.

• Heavy or stiff at the lever, needing more force than it used to
• Lost motion at the lever before the engine or the gearbox answers
• Gear not engaging cleanly, or the throttle not reaching its stops
• Outer sheath split, kinked or chafed where the cable passes a bulkhead or bracket
• Corroded end fittings, or an inner that is stiff to work by hand once the cable is off

• Measure the run in as straight a line as possible between the control mechanism and the engine or transmission connection, allow a 200 mm radius for every bend, and add 200 mm to the total; if the figure falls between two standard lengths, take the longer cable
• The cable must not be cut to size, and fewer bends mean better operation and a longer life, so order the length the run actually needs
• Supersedes 1140187, catalogued earlier as mechanical control cables - order this number if your records still show any of them
• These cables use the same connections as Control Cable 333, so they go straight onto a Volvo Penta engine remote control system in its place
• The range is supplied in fixed one-foot steps from 5 to 50 foot; order the length the run actually needs rather than cutting a cable down
