🔌 Function

Carries the helm lever's movement to the engine as a push-pull action, so throttle, reversing gear or drive shift can be worked from the wheel.

• Lever stiff, notchy or needing two hands to move
• Throttle or shift lagging behind the lever, or not settling in the detent
• Outer sheath split, kinked or chafed where it passes a bulkhead
• Rust-coloured water weeping from the end fittings
• Inner wire found corroded, frayed or broken inside the outer on strip-down

🛠️ Service Notes

• Work the length out before ordering: shortest practical route from control mechanism to engine or transmission connection, plus a 200 mm radius at every bend, rounding up to the next listed length - a cable must not be shortened to suit
• The standard range runs from 5 ft (21633476) to 50 ft (21633521) in one-foot steps and the published weights do not climb cleanly with length, so order by the measured run rather than by mass
• The low-friction Xact cable in the same 48 ft length is 21407261 if the run is long or has several bends - check the end-fitting requirement at the control head before changing range
• These cables use the same connections as Control Cable 333, so they go straight onto a Volvo Penta engine remote control system in its place
• The range is supplied in fixed one-foot steps from 5 to 50 foot; order the length the run actually needs rather than cutting a cable down
• Select the exact cable length: fewer bends mean better operation and durability
• Measure in as straight a line as possible between the control mechanism and the engine or transmission connection, and allow a radius of 200 mm for every bend, so length = A + B + 200 mm
• If the measurement falls between two standard lengths, select the longer cable
• The cables must not be cut to size
• A single engine installation requires two cables and a twin installation requires four
