🛠️ Service Notes

• Clean both mating faces completely and check them for flatness, burrs, corrosion and old sealant; an intermediate housing seals two assemblies at once and both faces have to be right
• Check the bearing bores and any seal running surfaces in the housing for wear and scoring, and renew seals and bearings while the housing is off
• Fit new gaskets, seals and O-rings, and use sealant only where the manual calls for it and only as thinly as it specifies
• Locate the housing on its dowels so it sits square before the fasteners are pulled down, then tighten evenly in stages to the figures given in the workshop manual for your unit
• Check that shafts turn freely and that oil passages line up before final assembly, and check for leaks after the first period of running
