🛠️ Service Notes

• Blank the open ports as soon as the manifold is off, so nothing can drop into a cylinder or the head while it is away
• Clean both mating faces without scoring them, check the manifold for flatness, cracks and corrosion, and fit new gaskets and seals throughout
• Clean out oil, soot and carbon deposits from the manifold interior before refitting, and look at the crankcase breather arrangement if the build-up is heavy — refitting a fouled manifold puts the restriction straight back
• Tighten the fasteners evenly, working outwards from the centre in stages to the figures given in the workshop manual for your engine
• Refit and check all charge air, breather and sensor connections and their clips; an air leak on a pressure-charged inlet shows up as lost power and smoke rather than an audible leak
