🔌 Function

The flap opens under exhaust pressure and closes when the engine stops, preventing rainwater and debris from entering the silencer and exhaust manifold.

🛠️ Service Notes

• Fits at the top of the vertical exhaust outlet on Volvo Penta open power units, keeping rain, snow and debris out of the exhaust and after-treatment system while the engine is stopped.
• The flap must lift freely under exhaust flow and fall fully shut again when the engine stops. Check the pivot at each service and free off any corrosion before it seizes.
• Let the exhaust cool before handling the cap; it and the pipe it clamps to run at exhaust temperature.
• Check the clamping is tight and the cap sits square on the outlet, so vibration and gas flow cannot work it loose.
• On a unit that stands outside, a cap seized part-open lets water run straight down the stack towards the after-treatment. Replace a damaged cap rather than leaving it in service.
