Type IH is the aluminium Duoprop range for Aquamatic DPS-B sterndrives, the drives with helical (spiral) propeller-shaft splines. The patented blade geometry and large active propeller diameter give optimal performance and fuel efficiency over the entire speed range, together with smooth running, excellent grip and manoeuvrability. Squeeze casting and a special high-strength aluminium alloy make them stronger and more durable than traditional die-cast propellers, and four layers of paint give excellent anti-corrosion performance. This is the IH6 rear propeller; the matching front propeller is 21661906, and the pair is also listed as set 21661946. Every set of Duoprop propellers is designed, tested and manufactured together, so the front and rear propellers of a dimension belong to each other.

The rear propeller works with the matched front propeller to recover rotational energy and produce balanced counter-rotating thrust.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Vibration through the transom that increases with speed
• Engine revs rising while speed drops
• Blades dinged, bent or pitted along the edges
• Fishing line wound tight at the hub
• Splines worn or twisted on strip-down

🛠️ Service Notes

• Fit it with the front propeller 21661906 of the same IH dimension - front and rear work only as a matched pair
• This rear propeller and the IH6 front propeller 21661906 both publish 6.804 kg, while the IH6 set 21661946 is published at 8.165 kg, so the figures do not add up - order by part number
• Clear any line from behind the propeller and check the drive anodes and shaft seal before refitting
• Always use type F or FH stainless steel propellers in 6-cylinder diesel engines or engines exceeding 240 hp or capable of speeds above 38 knots (45 mph).
• The straight-spline DPS and DPS-A drives take Type I propellers instead. A Type IH propeller will not fit a straight-spline drive.
• Always use propellers of the same type and size on the drive, or on both drives in twin installations.
• Installation hardware for types D, I, IH, F and FH: rear propeller nut 21631162, front propeller nut 3851569.
