🔧 Product Description

Type IH is the aluminium Duoprop range for Aquamatic DPS-B sterndrives, the drives with helical (spiral) propeller-shaft splines. The patented blade geometry and large active propeller diameter give optimal performance and fuel efficiency over the entire speed range, together with smooth running, excellent grip and manoeuvrability. Squeeze casting and a special high-strength aluminium alloy make them stronger and more durable than traditional die-cast propellers, and four layers of paint give excellent anti-corrosion performance. This number supplies the complete IH3 pair, front propeller 21661903 and rear propeller 21661923. Every set of Duoprop propellers is designed, tested and manufactured together, so the front and rear propellers of a dimension belong to each other.

🔌 Function

The counter-rotating propellers recover the rotational energy the front propeller leaves behind, improve grip and steering response, and turn engine torque into efficient thrust with reduced cavitation.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Blade is bent, cracked or heavily corroded
• Hub has slipped or absorbed a severe impact
• Vibration appears under load
• Engine cannot reach the correct wide-open-throttle range

🛠️ Service Notes

• Volvo Penta specifies stainless steel Type F or FH propellers rather than aluminium for six-cylinder diesel engines, engines above 240 hp, or boats capable of more than 38 knots (45 mph)
• Check the propeller-shaft splines before ordering - Type IH is the helical-spline set, and a straight-spline DPS or DPS-A drive takes the Type I set of the same number
• Run the same type and size on the drive, and on both drives in a twin installation
• Always use type F or FH stainless steel propellers in 6-cylinder diesel engines or engines exceeding 240 hp or capable of speeds above 38 knots (45 mph).
• The straight-spline DPS and DPS-A drives take Type I propellers instead. A Type IH propeller will not fit a straight-spline drive.
• Always use propellers of the same type and size on the drive, or on both drives in twin installations.
• Installation hardware for types D, I, IH, F and FH: rear propeller nut 21631162, front propeller nut 3851569.
