• High-pressure pipes are single-use: the pipe cone deforms to its seat when first tightened, so fit new pipes whenever they have been undone rather than refitting the originals
• Do not clamp the rail in a vice, dress a union seat or try to clean the rail internally — a damaged sealing cone or debris left inside will take out injectors
• Tighten unions and mountings to the workshop manual figures for your engine, since over-tightening damages the very seat the seal depends on, then prime, vent and leak-check at idle before putting it under load
