🛠️ Service Notes

• Drain the coolant to below the pump before removal, and catch and dispose of it properly
• Clean the mating face back to bare metal without scoring it, and fit the new gasket or O-ring dry unless the workshop manual for your engine specifies a sealant
• Do not lever or hammer on the pulley or the impeller housing to seat the pump, and check the shaft turns freely by hand once it is bolted up
• Set drive belt tension and check pulley alignment by the procedure for your engine — over-tensioning will wreck the bearing in a new pump
• Refill with coolant of the correct specification and mixture, vent the system fully, then run up and check both for leaks and for a normal temperature rise and fall
