⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Diesel weeping from the cover joint or running down the housing
- Fuel smell in the engine space after running
- Air drawn in past a poor cover seal, giving hard starting or a lumpy idle
- Cover found distorted, its face scored, or the old seal hard and flattened
🛠️ Service Notes
- Renew the cover seal or gasket whenever the cover is removed
- Check the cover face is flat before refitting; a distorted cover will not seal on a new gasket
