• Coolant level dropping slowly with no hose fault found
• Cap loose, or its thread felt to be stripped on removal
• Cap or its seal found corroded, hardened or split on inspection

• Renew the sealing washer or O-ring with the cap; the seal is usually what has failed, not the cap body
• Check the port thread and face before fitting, as a corroded seat will not seal a new cap
