🔌 Function

Drives the camshaft from the engine's timing train, holding the camshaft at the correct speed and phase relative to the crankshaft so valve and injection events stay where the factory set them.

• Whine or growl from the timing end of the engine that rises with revs
• Hard starting, rough idle or lost power as timing drifts
• Metallic glitter in the oil or debris on the sump magnet
• Chipped, pitted or step-worn teeth and excess backlash found once the timing cover is off

• Check the mating crankshaft and idler gears for matching wear before fitting only the camshaft gear
• Set and confirm timing marks on assembly, and renew the timing cover gasket and any seal disturbed
