It is machined from the specially developed nibral (nickel-bronze-aluminium) alloy Volvo Penta uses for its IPS propellers, which gives minimum growth, excellent durability and corrosion resistance. Volvo Penta IPS turns the propellers round to a forward-facing position, so the twin counter-rotating propellers pull the boat through the water rather than push it, and optimal interaction between the front and rear propeller holds performance and fuel efficiency across the whole speed range.

• Loss of top speed, or a boat slow to come onto the plane at the usual revs
• Blade tips bent, chipped or curled after touching bottom or striking debris
• Blade faces pitted or eroded by cavitation, usually near the leading edge
• Propeller hard to draw off, with corrosion or fretting on the shaft splines
