🛠️ Service Notes

• Renew rather than reuse: rings of this kind seal or retain by being sprung or compressed into place and take a permanent set once fitted
• Clean the groove, register or bore the ring sits in and remove any burr or old sealing residue before fitting — debris in the groove stops a ring seating and is a common cause of a repeat leak
• Open or compress the ring only as far as it needs to go on; overstretching or twisting it during fitting distorts it permanently
• Check the ring is fully seated all the way round its groove or register, and the right way round where its faces differ, before closing the assembly up
