Precision gasket used in the lubrication-system oil-pump and oil-strainer joint on Volvo Penta D5 and D8 industrial engines. It seals the oil passage against air entry and oil leakage.

🔌 Function

Seals the oil-pump/strainer interface so the pump draws oil without leakage or aeration.

🛠️ Service Notes

• Fit a new gasket every time the joint is disturbed — a gasket takes a permanent set once it has been torqued and will not seal reliably a second time
• Scrape both faces back to clean bare metal, keeping the blade at a shallow angle so it lifts the old material without gouging the surface, and use a plastic scraper on aluminium castings
• Check the faces for flatness, cracks and corrosion pitting, and make sure no old gasket, carbon or hardened sealant is left in the corners or around the bolt holes
• Fit the gasket dry unless the workshop manual for your engine calls for a sealant, and then only the type it specifies — surplus sealant squeezes out into oil, coolant and fuel passages
• Draw the fasteners down progressively in the sequence and to the torque given in the manual for your engine, and recheck after the first heat cycle where the manual asks for it
