🛠️ Service Notes
- Refit the shield whenever it has been taken off for access — it is there to keep heat, spray or contact away from something, and leaving it off is how the next failure starts
- Check the clearance all round once it is fitted so it cannot touch a moving part or press against a pipe, hose or harness
- Renew a shield that is cracked, badly distorted or corroded through rather than straightening it again
- Fit all of its original fasteners, spacers and any insulating or standoff pieces; the standoffs set the air gap the shield is designed to have
- Check the fixings again after the first run, since a shield sits in a vibrating position and works loose
