🛠️ Service Notes

• Depressurise the fuel system by the manual's procedure and let the engine cool before any connection on the rail is opened — a high-pressure fuel system stays pressurised after shutdown and the fuel can injure
• Work scrupulously clean: cap every union as it comes apart, keep swarf and dust out of the area, and never wipe a fuel connection with a fibrous rag
• Renew the high-pressure pipes that had to be removed rather than refitting them — once a pipe's sealing cone has been unseated, the joint can no longer be relied on to seal
• Mount the rail on its own fixings first and only then make up the pipe unions, each started by hand, so the pipes are never used to pull the rail into position
• Do not attempt to dismantle, flush out or repair the rail or its pressure components; on completion, bleed the system and leak-check it at working pressure before the engine goes back into service
