🛠️ Service Notes

• Fitted in the valve train to hold the hydraulic roller lifters square to the camshaft so each roller stays running true on its lobe; the lifters will not stay oriented without it.
• Renew the guide any time the lifters are disturbed. A cracked, splayed or worn guide lets a lifter turn, and that ruins the roller and the cam lobe together.
• Before the retaining hardware goes back on, check every lifter slides freely in the guide with no rock or bind — a lifter that sticks cannot follow the cam.
• Work clean. Keep the guide, the lifters and their bores free of grit and old sealant, and prime with fresh engine oil of the grade given in the operator's manual for your engine.
• Tighten the retaining hardware to the figures in the workshop manual for your engine rather than judging it by feel.
