🔌 Function
Mounts the fuel-filter element and controls fuel routing, venting and sealing in the low-pressure supply circuit.

- Fuel seepage around ports or filter head
- Air entry and extended cranking

- Filter seal distortion or repeated leakage
🛠️ Service Notes
- Work scrupulously clean — anything you let into the housing goes straight to the injection equipment, which is the most expensive part of the system
- Clean the sealing faces and renew every O-ring and sealing washer that is disturbed, lubricating rubber seals with clean fuel or oil so they slide rather than roll
- Support the housing so pipe unions are not strained, and tighten unions and fixings to the workshop manual figures for your engine; fuel unions seal on the cone, not on force
- Prime and vent afterwards — pump with the hand pump or lift-pump lever until firm resistance is felt and fuel comes through free of bubbles, and confirm the return is flowing before cranking
- Check for weeps with the system primed, and again with the engine running and warm; drain and inspect any water trap in the housing before you finish
