• This is the blade of the boat's trim system - the surface the trim cylinders push down into the water flow under the hull - and not a drive or transmission component.
• Trim flaps are sized and handed and work as a pair; fit the same size on both sides and check the opposite flap at the same time, or the boat will trim unevenly.
• The mounting fixings pass through the transom below the waterline: bed the flap and its fasteners on a suitable marine sealant and check for water ingress after relaunch.
• Inspect the hinge and the cylinder attachment for corrosion and play before condemning the flap itself; the blade takes the load of the whole trim system in seawater.
• Run the trim system through its full travel after fitting and confirm the flap returns fully up before hauling out or trailering.
