🛠️ Service Notes

  • Inspect the mating parts before fitting — splines, cones, drive plates, springs and thrust faces — because a new clutch fitted against worn mating components will fail again quickly
  • Work clean and keep the friction and engagement surfaces free of anything not specified for them, handling the parts so they are not knocked or contaminated
  • Set up the engagement and any adjustment strictly to the procedure and figures in the workshop manual for your engine or drive, and check for free, full movement in both the engaged and released positions before running up
  • Renew the seals, O-rings and locking fasteners disturbed during the job, and tighten fasteners to the manual's figures
  • Bed a new clutch in gently, avoiding heavy load until it has run for the period the manual specifies, then recheck the adjustment
