Genuine Volvo Penta safety lanyard cord with the three-prong emergency-stop clip, weighing 0.039 kg and listed for 282 applications across the V and D series, the IPS drives and the DPH and DPR drives. The cord is the half of the safety lanyard that attaches to the driver; pulling it clear of the switch stops the engine. Cords are listed on their own as well as in the lanyard kits, so a spare or a second helm cord can be ordered without a new switch.

🔌 Function

Held in the emergency stop switch by its clip; if the driver moves away and pulls it clear, the switch shuts the engine down.

• Cord frayed, stretched or unravelling at either end
• Clip cracked or a prong broken off
• Clip no longer holding the switch in the run position
• Engine refusing to start because the clip does not seat properly
• Cord stiffened and faded so it no longer pulls free cleanly

🛠️ Service Notes

• The side mount control for Aquamatic sterndrives has an integrated lanyard connection and comes with one cord, so this is the additional or replacement cord
• Carry a spare on board - the engine will not start with the clip out of the switch
• Test the shutdown at the helm with the boat secured after fitting
• Ordered separately from the lanyard kit, so a worn cord can be replaced on its own
