🔌 Function

Routes pressurised engine oil through the specified filters and internal galleries before distribution to engine bearings and components.

• Oil leakage at filter or housing seals

• Oil filter will not seal correctly
• Contamination or debris in internal galleries

🛠️ Service Notes

• Renew every gasket, O-ring and sealing washer that belongs to the housing; do not reuse them, and make sure old gasket material is fully removed from both faces
• Clean the mating faces with something that will not score or dig into the metal, and do not use abrasives that leave grit behind in an oil gallery
• Check the housing internally before fitting, along with any drain plug, sensor seat, bypass or cooler connection it carries, and make sure all threads and ports are clean and clear
• Tighten evenly and progressively to the figure and sequence in the workshop manual for your engine — these housings and their threads are easily distorted or stripped by overtightening
• Fit a new oil filter, refill with the specified oil, then run the engine and confirm oil pressure comes up and stays up before looking for leaks, and check the joint again once hot
