🛠️ Service Notes

  • A crankcase is a machining and measuring job rather than a bolt-on part: bores, bearing housings, faces and threads all need checking and building up to the figures for your engine
  • Transfer everything the old crankcase carried, and fit new bearings, gaskets, seals and any stretch or single-use bolts throughout
  • Clean out all oil galleries, coolant passages and threads and blow them through before assembly; a new casting still arrives with protective coating and machining debris
  • Check mating faces, spigots and dowels for flatness and damage, and take clearance and end float measurements as you build rather than assuming them
  • Prime the lubrication system and confirm oil pressure before a freshly built engine is loaded, and follow the running-in procedure for your engine
