🔌 Function

Carries engine coolant between the radiator/cooling package and engine without kinking under vibration or thermal movement.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Coolant loss at one of the hose ends, with staining or a crust below the joint
  • Hose ballooning under pressure or collapsing as the engine cools
  • Rubber hard and crazed, or soft and swollen, when squeezed cold
  • Cracks at the bead, visible only once the clamp is slid back
  • Chafing or a worn flat where the hose has been touching the frame or a bracket

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Check both spigots for corrosion or pitting before fitting the new hose, since a damaged spigot will leak through new rubber
  • Renew the clamps with the hose and retorque them after the first run up to temperature
