🔌 Function

Encloses the radiator cooling fan so that hands, clothing and loose items cannot reach the blades while the engine is running.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Rattle or drumming from the fan area at particular engine speeds
  • Mesh or frame bent, split or fretted where it bolts up
  • Corrosion and paint loss around the fixing points
  • Guard rubbing or contacting the fan blade tips
  • Fixing holes elongated so the guard sits loose

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Never run the engine with the guard removed or a section missing, and check that it clears the blade tips all round before closing up
  • Renew corroded fixings rather than reusing them, and tighten evenly around the guard so it is not pulled out of shape
