🔌 Function

Reinforces the cooling-package frame and holds the radiator, charge-air cooler and their brackets in alignment.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

  • Cooler package moving on its mounts or sitting out of line
  • Cracks at the bolt holes or at a weld
  • Fixings loose, or the holes elongated
  • Fretting and paint loss where the plate meets the frame
  • A hose or pipe chafing against a cooler that has shifted

🛠️ Service Notes

  • Check the cooler mountings and rubbers at the same time, since a cracked plate usually means something else has been working loose for a while
  • Set the fan-to-cowl clearance and check it all round before the package is finally tightened down
