Routes pressurised lubricating oil and houses the valve that regulates or protects system oil pressure.
⚠️ Common Signs of Failure
- Excessive oil pressure when the valve sticks closed
- Internal leakage from worn valve bore
- External leakage at housing seals or cover
- Bearing damage or warning shutdown caused by oil-pressure control faults
🛠️ Service Notes
- Note how the housing sits and how its connections run before removal, and keep any shims, springs and internal parts in order for reassembly
- Clean the mating faces and ports without letting debris into the passages — wipe or blow out rather than scraping into the bore
- Renew all gaskets, O-rings and sealing washers at the joints, lightly lubricated so they seat without nipping
- Check that any spool, plunger or valve moves freely through its full travel by hand before the housing is closed up and fitted
- Tighten fixings and unions evenly to the workshop manual figures for your engine, then check function and leak-check with the system under pressure
