🔌 Function

Carries axial thrust and establishes the correct gear/shaft end-float in the upper drive.

  • Whine or growl from the upper gear that changes with load or direction
  • Noticeable end float or clunk at gear engagement
  • The washer scored, bluing or picked up on the thrust face at strip-down
  • Bright metal or fine debris in the drained gear oil
  • Pitting or uneven wear tracking across the mating gear teeth

  • End float is set by measurement - fit this washer as part of the specified shim stack and check the figure rather than reusing the old stack blind
  • It supersedes 3887255
  • Renew the adjoining bearings and inspect the gear set at the same time, since a worn thrust washer has been letting the whole train move
