🔌 Function

Collects cylinder exhaust gas and routes it to the turbocharger and EGR system while sealing each exhaust port.

🛠️ Service Notes

• Treat the manifold as a wear item on a raw-water-cooled engine: check the water jacket and gas passages for corrosion, scale and cracks whenever it is off, and replace rather than clean up a casting that is heavily wasted
• Check the mating faces against a straightedge, renew all gaskets, and renew any studs, nuts or bolts that are corroded
• Blank off the open ports while the manifold is away so nothing can drop into a cylinder head
• Tighten the fixings in the sequence and to the figures given in the workshop manual for your engine, and re-check for gas and water leaks once the engine has been up to temperature
• Inspect the riser, elbow and exhaust hose at the same time; corrosion is rarely confined to one part of the system
