Forms a locating/pivot point for the exhaust heat-shield strap and bracket assembly.

  • Heat shield strap rattling, or the shield moving out of position
  • The stub bent, worn undersize where the strap bears on it, or loose in its seat
  • Elongated or worn pivot bore in the strap or bracket
  • Bright fretting marks and scoring around the mounting point
  • Scorched paint or heat marking nearby where a displaced shield has stopped protecting
