The belt- or gear-driven pump circulates coolant through the cylinder block, cylinder head, thermostat housing and radiator or heat exchanger. It replaces several earlier Volvo pump references.

🔌 Function

• The pump bolts to the engine against a gasket and a separate drive pulley mounts on it — clean the mating face thoroughly and always fit a new gasket rather than reusing the old one.
• Refit the pulley squarely and check belt alignment, setting tension to the figure given in the workshop manual for your engine.
• Refill with the specified coolant, bleed the system, run up to temperature, then check the pump joint and weep hole for leaks and re-check the level cold.
