🛠️ Service Notes

• Renew the O-ring, seal or grommet where the pipe enters the block or cover, and lubricate it with clean engine oil to fit; a dry seal tears or rolls as the pipe is pushed home
• Check the pipe is clear inside and free of sludge or debris before fitting, and make sure nothing can drop down it while it is open
• Refit the securing bracket or clip in its original position so the pipe cannot flex or rub against surrounding components
• Check the filler cap and its seal at the same time — a filler that does not seal at the top lets oil mist and crankcase fumes into the engine space
• Run the engine afterwards and check the joint at the block or cover for weeping once it is warm
