🔧 Product Description

Water-cooled exhaust riser for later Volvo Penta D4 and D6 inboard/IPS marine diesels. It raises the exhaust outlet above the manifold and introduces cooling water before the downstream wet-exhaust hose.

🔌 Function

Raises and redirects the exhaust stream and mixes cooling water into the exhaust before discharge.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Internal corrosion or perforation
• Water leakage at the flange or hose
• Soot/rust tracks
• Restricted exhaust flow
• Water reversion into the engine

🛠️ Service Notes

• Expect corrosion: strip the riser and look through both the gas passage and the water jacket, and renew a casting that is heavily wasted rather than cleaning it up
• Renew the riser gasket and any blanking plate, studs, nuts or bolts that are corroded, and check the mating faces are flat with a straightedge
• Check the manifold, elbow and exhaust hose at the same time, and satisfy yourself the riser still gives the height and fall needed to keep water out of the engine
• Fit the fixings in the sequence and to the figures in the workshop manual for your engine, then check the exhaust and cooling joints for leaks and confirm correct water discharge with the engine running
• Inspect risers at the interval set for your engine, and more often on a boat used in salt water
