🔌 Function

The flexible impeller draws seawater through the drive or hull intake and supplies the engine heat exchanger or cooling passages.

⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

• Engine overheats or raw-water flow is reduced
• Impeller blades cracked, missing or permanently bent
• Pump will not prime
• Water leakage at the pump cover
• Incorrect impeller width or pump model selected

🛠️ Service Notes

• Because one kit covers so many engines, confirm the pump assembly number rather than assuming a change of engine means a change of impeller
• Volvo Penta lists a small glycerine impeller lubricant for rubber impellers and O-rings, and the impeller should never be run dry
