A genuine retaining ring for the Volvo Penta expansion-tank level sight glass. Two lock rings are used in the documented TAD1640-TAD1642GE/TWD1643GE assembly to secure the sight-glass components and maintain even compression on the sealing O-rings.

🔌 Function
Locks the sight-glass cover and glass into the expansion tank so the O-rings remain evenly compressed.

🛠️ Service Notes
- Always fit a new lock ring rather than reusing one; once it has been spread to fit it has lost some of its grip
- Use the correct tool and open the ring only as far as it needs to go — a ring that has been over-spread or nipped in a vice will not hold
- Check that the groove is clean and undamaged and that the ring is seated fully round its whole circumference before the assembly is loaded
- Fit the ring the right way round where one face is chamfered or dished, with the square-cornered face against the load
- Reject any ring showing a twist, a bright rubbed patch or a nick, and never grind or file one to fit
